Rock Church, Stone religious building in Auburn, Wyoming
The Rock Church stands at Second W and First S Streets in Auburn, constructed with rough cut stone in a steeply gabled design measuring 30 by 15 feet.
Permanent settlers established Auburn in 1888, and the following year they completed the construction of this stone church, which cost $2,980 at the time.
The building functioned as both a religious center for Latter-day Saints and a community space where residents gathered for plays, dances, operas, and celebrations.
The Rock Church received recognition through its addition to the National Register of Historic Places on December 13, 1985, preserving its historical status.
The structure represents one of Star Valley's earliest buildings and remained the only 1800s structure still actively used during its National Register listing.
