Echo State Park, Recreational state park in Summit County, United States.
Echo State Park is a reservoir in the Uinta Mountains with about 1,450 acres (588 hectares) of water surface located at 5,560 feet (1,695 meters) elevation. The grounds include a marina surrounded by trees, grassy picnic areas, and trails that wind along the shoreline.
The dam was built during the 1930s by the Bureau of Reclamation to store water for agricultural irrigation across the region. This project shaped settlement patterns in Summit County and provided a stable water supply for farming communities.
Local residents from Coalville managed recreation concessions at the reservoir since the 1960s, establishing a connection between the community and the water resource.
The park is easily accessible from the surrounding roads and features wide paths suitable for visitors of different mobility levels. Plan visits during daylight hours and check seasonal conditions in advance, as mountain weather can change quickly and some facilities operate only part of the year.
Visitors can participate in a boat certification program that requires proper drying procedures before moving vessels between different water bodies. This system prevents the spread of invasive species that can damage ecosystems across the state.
