Colorado Springs City Auditorium
Colorado Springs City Auditorium, Multi-purpose hall in Colorado Springs, United States.
The Colorado Springs City Auditorium is a multi-purpose hall featuring Classical Revival architecture with a grand entrance, decorative stonework, and large windows across its brick facade. The building offers various event spaces and includes multiple rooms of different sizes for different types of gatherings.
The building was completed in 1923 as a result of collaboration between architects Thomas MacLaren, Charles Thomas, and Thomas Hetherington. It was created to meet the city's need for a modern event venue that could serve a growing community.
Two notable murals from the Works Progress Administration era adorn the lobby, showing mining scenes and performance art themes created by local artists Archie Musick and Tabor Utley. These artworks tell the story of the region's past and the importance of performing arts to the community.
The venue is easy to access with available parking and visitor facilities including restrooms and elevators for navigation. Staff can assist with questions about event space availability or help you find your way around the building.
The building houses a Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ from 1928 that was brought here in 1976 after being relocated from the Burns Opera House. This musical instrument is a rare example of a restored theatre pipe organ and adds to the artistic character of the venue.
