Dearfield, human settlement in Colorado, United States of America
Dearfield is an abandoned settlement in Colorado that operates today as a museum site. The location displays original and reconstructed buildings from the early 1900s, including residences, a church, and outbuildings that reflect how people lived during its period of habitation.
The site was founded around 1910 as an African American agricultural colony during a time of severe racial discrimination. The settlement expanded during the 1920s but faced economic hardship and was eventually abandoned during the Great Depression.
The site sits in a remote location and is best reached by car. Buildings can be viewed from the outside, and informational signs on site explain the history and layout of the settlement.
