Glass House, Contemporary residence in British Columbia, Canada
The Glass House is a modern residence in British Columbia with continuous glass exterior walls. The structure spans multiple levels positioned between a parking area and a natural slope, offering approximately 5,400 square feet of living space.
The building was designed by Andrew Reeves from the Toronto-based firm LineBox Studio Inc and represents current Canadian residential architecture. The project exemplifies how contemporary designers integrate modernist housing concepts into the British Columbia landscape.
The residence demonstrates how contemporary living spaces blend daylight and nature into everyday surroundings. The staggered rooms create different zones for family life and work, each connected to the outdoor setting through expansive windows.
The north-facing side of the house uses windows for natural lighting while radiant-floor heating warms the interior. The layout with maple floors provides practical living space, and the position between the parking area and slope requires awareness when navigating the multiple levels.
A glass-enclosed staircase connects the different levels and creates the impression of ascending through the treetops. This design element dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, making the connection to nature central to daily movement through the home.
