Fish Creek Campground, Wilderness campground in Glacier National Park, Montana
Fish Creek Campground is a woodland campground near the western entrance to Glacier National Park, located at 3,500 feet elevation. The site spreads across forested land and offers 178 campsites for visitors.
The campground area experienced major changes due to a large wildfire in 2003 that reshaped the landscape. The effects of that fire remain visible along trails near the site today.
Rangers share knowledge about local wildlife, geology, and conservation at evening amphitheater talks that visitors can attend. These sessions help people understand how this mountain landscape works and why it needs protection.
Advance reservations are important since the site fills up quickly during peak season. The campground provides bear-proof storage lockers and limits generator use to specific hours to keep noise manageable for everyone.
This location receives more rainfall than any other part of the national park, creating a special climate that supports lush plant growth. This wetter environment allows plant species to thrive here that are uncommon elsewhere in the park.
