American Legion Peak is a mountain summit in the Wind River Range of Wyoming that stands at about 13,211 feet (4,025 meters) above sea level. The peak features glaciers on its eastern side and is surrounded by rocky terrain with several climbing routes available.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1930 when mountaineers reached the summit, opening the peak to future climbers in the region. Since then it has become an established destination for those exploring the Wind River Range.
The peak serves as a reference point for mountaineers exploring the Bridger Wilderness Area, connecting them with Wyoming's alpine environment.
Visitors should prepare for cold conditions, steep slopes, and rocky terrain that present challenges throughout the year. The best climbing window is late spring through early fall when snow and ice are less of an obstacle.
The mountain ranks as the 17th tallest peak in Wyoming and holds position 34 among 264 peaks in Wind River Range by prominence.
