Fabyan Trestle Bridge, Railway trestle in Fabyan, Alberta, Canada.

Fabyan Trestle Bridge is a steel railway viaduct crossing the Battle River valley with a distinctive framework structure made of steel lattice girders. The construction rises well above the river level and spans a considerable distance to reach the opposite side.

The bridge was completed in 1908 by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway as part of westward railway expansion across Canada. Its construction represented a major engineering achievement during the early industrial era of the country.

The bridge stands as a reminder of how railways shaped settlement and commerce across Alberta's landscape. You can sense the determination it took to connect distant communities through such difficult terrain.

A rest area near the bridge provides excellent viewpoints and information panels about the structure and its setting. The location is easily accessible and allows visitors to observe the entire construction from a safe vantage point.

During construction, a work boat capsized in the river, killing several laborers who were helping to build the structure. Workers at the site created a memorial to honor those who died in this tragedy.
