Louise Falls

Louise Falls is a waterfall in Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park, where the Hay River drops over a wide rock edge. The water plunges with powerful force and creates a striking natural formation that stands out clearly from the surrounding landscape.

The waterfall received its name during early exploration of the Northwest Territories in the 1800s. This naming reflects the European discovery history of the region.

The Indigenous communities of Northwest Territories maintain connections to this natural site through generations of traditional activities and knowledge sharing.

Visitors reach this waterfall using maintained walking trails within the park, which are most accessible from spring through fall. The paths are fairly easy to walk, though proper gear for seasonal conditions is recommended.

The waterfall maintains a constant flow rate of 282 cubic meters per second, making it one of the most substantial water features in Northwest Territories.
