Enterprise

Enterprise is a small settlement in the Northwest Territories situated where two major highways intersect and connect different regions. The place serves as a stopping point for travelers on longer journeys through this part of Canada.

The settlement began in 1948 as a simple service station at a major road junction in this remote region. This modest start as a supply point shaped the place as a passing-through stop.

The local population includes First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities speaking English, North and South Slavey, Inuinnaqtun, and German languages.

The village sits in a convenient location for travelers moving between different parts of the Northwest Territories. Road accessibility makes it a practical place to stop and rest during longer drives.

In August 2023, wildfires caused severe damage and destroyed a large portion of the structures in this northern community. The event permanently altered the infrastructure and appearance of the place.
