Thaidene Nëné National Park Reserve

The protected area spans 14,305 square kilometers, encompassing boreal forests, tundra landscapes, and deep freshwater lakes in the Northwest Territories.

The Canadian government designated Thaidene Nëné as a national park reserve on August 21, 2019, following decades of negotiations with Indigenous communities.

The name Thaidene Nëné means Land of the Ancestors in Chipewyan, reflecting the deep connection of Łutsël K'é Dene First Nation to these territories.

Access to the park requires flights from Yellowknife to Lutsel K'e, where visitors can arrange guided tours for fishing, paddling, and camping experiences.

The reserve includes North America's deepest lake sections, where giant lake trout swim beneath red granite cliffs rising from Great Slave Lake.
