The preserved ruts demonstrate the determination of 19th-century traders and settlers who established commercial routes through Native American territories.
Located 9 miles west of Dodge City along Highway 50, visitors can observe the trail remains from designated viewing areas throughout the year.
These trail remnants represent the longest continuous stretch of visible Santa Fe Trail ruts in Kansas, spanning 140 acres of protected land.
