Wagoner County, Administrative county in northeastern Oklahoma, United States.
Wagoner County extends across 591 square miles of land, featuring wooded hills, small prairies, and pasturelands divided by the Verdigris River.
The county was established in 1907 and named after Henry Wagoner, a railroad dispatcher from Parsons, Kansas who managed operations in this region.
The territory was first inhabited by Caddoan Mound Builders from 300 to 1200 AD, followed by Creek settlements in the west and Cherokee in the east.
The Wagoner County Clerk's office maintains an online fraud alert system through Eagle Fraud Guard to protect residents from property theft.
Fort Gibson Lake, created in 1942 by impounding the Grand River, provides 19,990 acres of water surface and 225 miles of shoreline within the county.
