Sequoyah's Cabin, Historic log cabin in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, US
The one-room log cabin structure stands protected by a brick shelter built in the 1930s, with a bronze statue of Sequoyah positioned outside the building.
Constructed in 1829 by Sequoyah, the creator of the Cherokee syllabary, this cabin remained his residence during his efforts to teach writing to western Cherokee people.
The cabin exhibits period furnishings and artifacts that demonstrate the daily life of Sequoyah while he developed the written system for the Cherokee language.
Located at 470288 Highway 101 in Sallisaw, the site operates as a museum managed by Visit Cherokee Nation, offering educational programs about Cherokee heritage.
The Cherokee Nation purchased this National Historic Landmark in 2016, maintaining the 10-acre property as a testament to Native American literacy development.
