Saint Olav's Church, Kirkjubøur, Medieval church in Kirkjubøur, Faroe Islands
Saint Olav's Church spans 21.8 meters in length and 7.5 meters in width, constructed entirely from locally sourced fieldstone materials.
Built around 1250, this religious structure served as the Catholic bishop's seat until the Protestant Reformation transformed the religious landscape.
The church contains fourteen medieval pew ends depicting eleven Apostles and three Biblical figures, now exhibited at the National Museum.
The church maintains regular opening hours throughout the year, allowing visitors to explore the architecture and historical displays within.
A runestone discovered in 1832 within the church grounds provides evidence of early Norse settlements in the Faroe Islands.
