Streymin bridge, Road bridge in Nesvík, Faroe Islands
The Streymin Bridge spans 220 meters across the Sundini sound, connecting the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy with a width of 9.5 meters.
The construction of the bridge started in 1970, and on October 30, 1973, it became the first structure to connect the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy.
The bridge carries the name Brúgvin um Streymin in Faroese language and represents a major infrastructure advancement for the Faroese community.
The bridge serves as part of national road number 10, linking Tórshavn to Klaksvík, with an average of 4,497 vehicles crossing daily as of 2011.
The structure features a clearance height of 17 meters above the water, allowing maritime vessels to pass underneath through the dredged Sundini sound.
