Saint Brelade's Bay

Saint Brelade's Bay is a sandy beach on Jersey's south coast that stretches for about 800 meters. The bay is framed by palm trees and natural cliffs rising on both sides of the shoreline.

In the 19th century, the bay served as an important harbor for local fishing communities and offered safe anchorage for trading vessels. This maritime activity shaped life on the island for generations.

The beach hosts annual sand sculpture competitions in summer, where local artists create temporary installations. These works reflect the island's maritime traditions and draw visitors who enjoy watching the creative process unfold.

The beach has multiple car parks and direct bus connections from central Saint Helier. A wheelchair rental service is available through BeachAbility to help with beach access.

Palm trees line the beach promenade, creating an unexpected Mediterranean feel on this northern European island. This tropical exception results from the temperate Gulf Stream, which shields Jersey from harsh winter conditions.
