Pfälzerhütte, Mountain hut in Triesenberg, Liechtenstein
Pfälzerhütte is a mountain hut in Triesenberg, Liechtenstein, sitting at around 2,108 ft (2,108 m) near the Austrian border at the head of the Naaftal Valley. It offers private rooms, shared dormitory beds, and emergency spaces for guests caught out by the weather.
The hut was built as a simple shelter for mountaineers and grew over time into a more comfortable facility as mountain tourism developed in the region. It stands as one of the earliest fixed points for high-altitude activity in Liechtenstein.
The dining room brings together guests from different backgrounds for shared meals during their mountain stays. This communal space creates informal connections between hikers and climbers who exchange their experiences and stories.
The hut is generally open from June to October, outside of which the trails can be covered in snow or hard to follow. Only cash in Swiss francs or euros is accepted on site, so it is worth withdrawing money before setting out.
Just above the hut there is a climbing area with routes at different levels that draws mountaineers from across the region. This makes the spot one of the very few places in Liechtenstein where Alpine rock climbing can be practiced directly from a staffed hut.
