Niccoline Chapel, Chapel in Vatican
The Niccoline Chapel is a beautifully decorated private chapel within the Vatican Palace.
Commissioned by Pope Nicholas V, it was frescoed by Fra Angelico and his assistants between 1447-1451.
The chapel's frescoes are considered some of the highest achievements of Renaissance art.
Due to its delicate state, access to the Niccoline Chapel is extremely limited to preserve its artwork.
The chapel contains Saint Lawrence and Saint Stephen's martyrdom frescoes, exhibiting emblematic Christian iconography.
