Lake Zell, Alpine lake in Zell am See, Austria
Lake Zell spans 4 kilometers in length and 1.5 kilometers in width, reaching depths of 73 meters at an elevation of 750 meters.
The lake formed during the last ice age through glacial processes, creating a natural water basin within the Salzburg mountain region.
Three waterfront sections called lidos provide dedicated spaces for swimming, water sports, and social gatherings throughout the summer season.
The lake permits only electric-powered boats except for passenger ferries, maintaining environmental standards while offering transportation and recreational options.
During winter months, the entire surface of Lake Zell freezes, transforming the summer swimming destination into a natural ice skating area.
