Zollnerseehütte, Mountain hut at 1750 meters in Dellach, Austria
Zollnerseehütte is a mountain refuge at 1750 meters (5741 feet) in Dellach in the Austrian Alps. The hut provides 2 beds in private rooms and 28 dormitory spaces, supporting hikers on the Carnic High Trail.
The refuge was founded in 1976 by the Austrian Alpine Club section Obergailtal-Lesachtal to support growing interest in mountain activities in the region. Since then it has served as a key stopping point for climbers and hikers on this popular trail.
The neighboring Zollner Peace Chapel honors soldiers who died on the former front line and creates a space for quiet reflection. This small chapel shapes the atmosphere around the hut and invites visitors to pause and remember.
The hut operates from late May through early November with accommodation and meals available on site. During colder months a winter room equipped for four people offers an alternative when regular operations are not available.
The refuge received environmental certification in 1996 for implementing sustainable practices in high-altitude operations. This early recognition made it a pioneer in environmental responsibility and resource-conscious management at this elevation.
