Brandberger Kolm

Brandberger Kolm is a mountain summit in Tyrol reaching about 2700 meters, with steep slopes and a broad peak area that typifies the Eastern Alps landscape. The summit is accessed via several marked trails that wind through meadows, scree fields, and rocky terrain.

The mountain and its trails emerged from ancient herding routes that Tyrolean farmers used to drive livestock to summer high pastures. These historical pathways shaped the landscape and land use patterns of the mountain region over centuries.

The mountain remains deeply connected to Tyrolean Alpine life, with locals still using the high meadows for traditional summer grazing practices. The steep pastures and herding routes reflect a way of life that has existed in these mountains for many generations.

The ascent starts from Gasthaus Thanner and follows marked trail 513 over rocky and steep sections with exposed slopes. Proper hiking boots, water supplies, and weatherproof clothing are essential, as conditions can change quickly on the mountain.

The Steinmandl, a distinctive rock formation in the final meters before the summit, serves as a visual landmark for hikers navigating the approach. These stone cairns are an ancient Alpine tradition that mountaineers have long used for guidance in these mountains.
