Ringturm, Office tower at Schottenring, Vienna, Austria
The Ringturm is an office building at Schottenring in Vienna standing 73 meters tall across 23 floors. Its facade is dominated by glass panels arranged in a clean post-war modern design.
Built between 1953 and 1955 by architect Erich Boltenstern, it was Vienna's first post-war office building. The structure symbolized the city's reconstruction efforts during that period.
The entrance hall hosts regular architectural exhibitions featuring projects from Austria and Eastern Europe, accessible to visitors without charge. The exhibitions reflect how the region rebuilt its architectural identity during the post-war years.
The building stands directly above Schottenring subway station, making it easy to reach by public transport. A weather beacon with 117 lamps at the top displays forecasts through color and light patterns.
Since 2006, the facade transforms each summer when international artists create temporary installations across its entire surface. These art projects turn the building into a moving gallery for several weeks.
