Rossauer Barracks, Military barracks in Alsergrund, Austria
Rossauer Barracks is a large military building made of red brick located on Maria-Theresien-Strasse in Vienna's ninth district. The structure features multiple courtyards and distinctive towers that define its outward appearance.
The barracks were built after the Revolution of 1848 and originally served as housing for a large military garrison. It was later renamed and now serves various government institutions.
The complex now serves as a working administrative space housing different ministry departments. Visitors can observe a building that maintains its military heritage while functioning as a civilian office facility.

The watchtowers of the building originally contained sanitary facilities, which disproves an old story about an architectural mistake. This practical solution shows how functional the 19th-century construction was designed to be.
