Polizeigebäude Rossauer Lände, Protected police building in Alsergrund, Austria
The Polizeigebäude Rossauer Lände stands along the Danube Canal, featuring horizontal architectural elements and multiple administrative sections spread across 7,460 square meters.
The construction, initiated following Police President Wilhelm Marx's 1874 request, replaced the old police detention center at Theobald Monastery and the Central Police Prison.
The building houses the Vienna State Criminal Police Office and includes exhibition spaces that document the evolution of law enforcement in the city.
The police complex contains multiple departments, a detention center, administrative offices, and service areas, all accessible through the main entrance on Rossauer Lände.
This police building was the first structure in Austria to feature cells equipped with integrated toilet facilities and pneumatic post offices.
