Falkenhütte, Alpine refuge in Karwendel Mountains, Austria.
Falkenhütte is a mountain hut in the Karwendel Mountains located at 1848 meters near the Laliderer Walls. It provides overnight accommodation and meals for climbers and hikers crossing the Karwendel range.
This hut was built in 1921 as a shelter for mountain travelers. It underwent major renovations between 2017 and 2020 to improve facilities for contemporary visitors.
The interior shows traditional Tyrolean wooden wall finishes where visitors rest after mountain expeditions. Guests experience the authentic setting of an alpine hut where hikers and climbers meet and share their experiences.
Book overnight stays online since the hut operates only from mid-June to mid-October. A separate winter room with eight beds is available for visitors during the off-season.
This hut sits strategically between Großer Ahornboden and Karwendelhaus, linking multiple hiking routes. From here visitors can reach peaks like Mahnkopf and Steinfalk, popular destinations for day hikers.
