Bummerlhaus, Gothic mansion in Steyr, Austria.
The Bummerlhaus features a stone-carved bay window stretching across the first floor with blind arcades and an intricate frieze containing five asymmetrical windows.
The building's earliest sections date from the 13th century, with the first documented mention appearing in records from 1450 as one of Austria's medieval structures.
The name originates from the 19th century when locals noticed the Golden Lion inn sign resembled a plump little dog, leading to the nickname Bummerlhaus.
The structure currently operates as a branch of VKB bank, allowing visitors to observe the medieval architecture while conducting financial transactions.
In 1973, the Austrian government featured the Bummerlhaus on a 50 schilling coin to commemorate 500 years since its establishment.
