The castle dates back to the 11th century, with the first documented owner being Oswald Eisenstang in 1423, followed by significant renovations in 1600.
The castle maintains its agricultural heritage through a working farm producing local specialties including milk, eggs, cheese, jams, honey, and traditional schnapps.
Visitors can stay in renovated apartments within the castle walls while enjoying direct access to hiking trails and ski areas in the Pinzgau region.
A marble relief from 1606 remains above the main entrance, documenting the renaissance period renovations that shaped the castle's current architectural form.
