Pfarrkirche Am Tabor Leopoldstadt, Parish church in Leopoldstadt district, Vienna, Austria
Pfarrkirche Am Tabor is a parish church in the Leopoldstadt district of Vienna, located at Hochstettergasse 1. Inside, it holds a large wooden crucifix carved by Peter Sellemond and a tabernacle made from Krastal smoky quartz.
The congregation first gathered in a converted factory from 1935, which soon became too small for the growing number of parishioners. A new building was completed in 1967 to replace it.
The facade features biblical scenes painted by Austrian artist Arik Brauer, whose colorful style is immediately noticeable from the street. His work gives the building a look that stands apart from most parish churches in the city.
The church is easy to reach on foot from nearby metro stops in Leopoldstadt. The parish office keeps limited hours, so it is worth checking in advance if you need to speak with someone or access specific areas.
The pipe organ was built between 1978 and 1980 and spans two manuals and a pedal division. It remains in regular use during services, making it one of the more recent additions to an otherwise older interior.
