Gosaukammbahn, Aerial tramway in Gosau, Austria.
The Gosaukammbahn is an aerial tramway in Gosau that carries passengers to an elevation of around 1154 meters. The route offers views of the Vorderer and Hinterer Gosausee lakes and connects the valley floor to higher hiking areas.
This aerial lift opened in 1968 and became part of the region's tourism infrastructure from that time forward. It has provided quick access to the mountain areas and trails of the Dachstein West massif ever since.
The lift connects visitors to traditional mountain huts where Alpine customs and local traditions shape how people live and work. Once at the top, travelers experience how residents interact with the surrounding landscape and mountain environment daily.
The lift operates from May through November with regular daily departures throughout the season. Parking is conveniently available near the base station, making it easy for visitors to access the system.
The system can transport up to 500 people per hour, allowing for quick ascent even when visitor numbers are high. This means that even on busy days, travelers can reach the upper hiking areas without facing long waits.
