Inatura

Inatura is a natural science museum in Dornbirn spread across multiple floors with interactive displays focused on regional wildlife and natural history. The spaces blend modern exhibition techniques with hands-on learning stations where visitors can explore the nature of Vorarlberg.

The building occupies the site of the former Rusch-Werke turbine factory, which operated from 1827 until 1984. The industrial area was transformed into this museum complex, which opened in 2003.

The place reflects the community's commitment to environmental learning and brings together visitors curious about local wildlife and plants. The exhibits encourage discovery and show how people here engage with and understand the natural world around them.

Weekday visits or early morning hours tend to be quieter and more comfortable for viewing. The museum has wheelchair access, a natural sciences library, and a restaurant where you can sit outdoors.

The grounds preserve several original industrial-era buildings including the old assembly hall, foundry, machine shop, and smithy, which are now integrated into the modern museum. These visible remnants give visitors a sense of the site's working past.
