Kunstraum Dornbirn, Contemporary art museum in Dornbirn, Austria.

Kunstraum Dornbirn is a contemporary art museum housed in a former machine factory assembly hall with high ceilings and industrial architectural elements. The exhibition space retains the raw structure of the original Rüschwerke production facility and is used for rotating art presentations.

The museum was founded in 1987 as a non-profit art association and relocated to the former factory building in 2003. This transformation of an industrial production site into an art venue has shaped the institution's identity since then.

The Kunstraum shows three exhibitions a year, alternating established international artists with newer positions. The building itself shapes the programme: the 11.5-metre height and 350 m² of open floor allow room-filling installations, as with Erwin Wurm's Narrow House in 2011 or Roman Signer's 2007 action Fahrt an der Decke. The association has been run on an honorary basis, with Ekkehard Bechtold as president for fifteen years before Gerald Matt took over in July 2019.

The museum is centrally located and easily accessible by foot or public transport. The open exhibition space allows flexible access and lets visitors explore the artworks at their own pace.

The space retains traces of its past as a production facility and allows artists to work with the building's raw character. This results in art installations that use the industrial architecture as an integral part of the artwork itself.
