Dornbirn

This commercial hub in Vorarlberg sits where several streams flow down from mountain slopes through the town center. Streets rise gently toward the hillside while modern buildings alternate with older storefronts.

The first recorded mention appears in the year 895. In 1380 the settlement came under Habsburg control and received town rights in 1901.

The name comes from Romansh 'Taurina', referring to an old grazing ground. Today locals use the pedestrian zone as an everyday meeting point between shops and cafés.

Regional bus lines connect the center with surrounding settlements and valleys. Several train stations lie within the town area and provide connections to Germany and Switzerland.

A museum displays the largest collection of Rolls-Royce vehicles outside Britain. Among them are models that once belonged to prominent figures.
