Pletzen is a 2,345-metre summit in the Seckau Tauern of Styria, forming the highest point of the Pletzenkamm ridge between the Gaalgraben to the west and the Ingeringgraben to the east. Its plateau-like top drops away in ridges on all sides, with the long Hirschfeld ridge below to the east and a large cirque holding the Sundlsee between the summit and the saddle linking it to the Grosser Ringkogel.

The sources record no historical events, first ascent or dated route development for the Pletzen; its documented history is one of route description. The marked paths approach from Gaalreiter in the south or from Ingeringgraben in the southeast via the Großen Ringkogel, whose saddle gives quick access to the summit. Ski tourers use the Sundlalm and Sundlsee route, while the steep exit from the cirque and the unmarked Kärntental and Bärental variants demand good orientation.

The name Pletzen refers to the whole ridge, the Pletzenkamm, whose highest point the summit is; the ridge rises between the Gaalgraben to the west and the Ingeringgraben to the east. Below the plateau-like top, the long Hirschfeld ridge extends eastward, and in the cirque between the summit and the saddle toward the Großen Ringkogel lie the Sundlsee and the springs of the Sundlalmbach.

The route to the summit is well marked but requires sure-footedness and proper hiking shoes. Weather can change rapidly in the mountains, so it is wise to check conditions before setting out and start early in the day.
