Landhaus Klagenfurt is a Renaissance building in the city center that contains rooms with high ceilings and decorative coat-of-arms displays. The structure blends original elements from the 16th century with Baroque modifications made after a fire in the 18th century.
Construction of the building began in 1574 as part of the city's fortification efforts. A fire in 1723 destroyed much of the interior, leading to a complete redesign in the Baroque style.
The halls inside display coats of arms belonging to Carinthian noble families on their walls, showing how local power was organized centuries ago. You can see these symbols of regional identity still hanging there today.
The building is centrally located between two public squares in the old town and is easy to reach on foot. It currently houses the regional parliament, so visitors should check whether public tours are available and when.
