Heilbronner Hütte, Mountain hut in Vorarlberg, Austria.
Heilbronner Hütte is a mountain hut in the Vorarlberg Alps at 2,320 meters (7,612 ft), offering overnight stays and meals to hikers and climbers. The building has a sleeping area, a kitchen, and a shared common room where guests can rest.
The hut was built in 1926 as a base for mountaineers exploring the surrounding peaks in the Vorarlberg Alps. Over the decades it was gradually expanded to take in more guests as mountain hiking grew in popularity.
The hut serves traditional Alpine dishes like cheese spaetzle and goulash, which hikers eat after long days on the trail. Sharing a table with strangers over a warm meal is a natural part of life at this elevation.
Beds fill up fast during summer, so booking ahead is strongly advised before planning a stay. Arriving in the morning gives you more time to settle in and explore the trails nearby before the light fades.
The hut has no road access, so all supplies arrive either by helicopter or on foot carried by porters. The staff lives on site for the whole season without the option of a quick trip down to the valley.
