Grünhorn

Grünhorn is a mountain summit in Vorarlberg that rises to 2,039 meters and can be reached from Mittelberg via hiking trails. The route connects this peak with neighboring mountain ranges in the Bezirk Bregenz region.

The summit was shaped by glacial movements during different phases of the ice age that molded the Alps. These geological processes have defined the mountain landscape over thousands of years.

Local mountain communities maintain traditional alpine farming practices near Grünhorn, preserving centuries-old methods of sustainable land management in high altitudes.

The climb from Mittelberg takes about 5 hours and covers a height gain of around 500 meters on a well-marked trail. The terrain is best walked in proper hiking boots and water should be taken in sufficient quantity.

On clear days the summit offers views across Lake Constance to the Swiss mountains in the distance. This panorama makes the location a visually rewarding spot for mountain walkers.
