Largoz

Largoz is a mountain summit in the Tuxer Alps that rises to 2214 meters between the Volders and Wattens valleys. The peak offers views across the surrounding Alpine landscape and serves as a natural waypoint between these two main valleys.

The mountain served as a training ground for local climbers during the early days of Alpine mountaineering in Austria. This role helped establish it as an important learning destination for developing climbing skills in the region.

A traditional summit cross marks the peak, following an Alpine custom that connects local people to the mountain for generations. This religious symbol reflects how mountain communities have long expressed their relationship with the landscape around them.

The ascent starts from Krepperhütte at 1400 meters and covers about 3.3 kilometers through forest paths and steep sections to the summit. Good fitness and sturdy hiking boots are necessary, particularly for the steeper passages and when ground conditions are wet.

In winter the mountain becomes a ski touring destination with multiple descent routes through forested slopes. The south-facing terrain accumulates snow differently than surrounding peaks, creating appealing riding opportunities.
