Lentia 2000, Multifunctional complex in Urfahr district, Linz, Austria
Lentia 2000 is a multifunctional complex in the Urfahr district of Linz that combines residential apartments, offices, shops, and a school within a pentagonal footprint. The center includes hundreds of apartments, two underground parking levels, and the Lentia City shopping center with stores and restaurants spread across two floors.
The complex was built between 1973 and 1977 on the site of a former large carpentry workshop destroyed by fire in 1970. The project arose from the city's need for housing and modern facilities during that era.
The site is home to the HBLA Lentia school, which brings students through its spaces daily and gives the place an educational character. It previously housed the New Gallery of Linz before the institution moved to the Lentos Museum in 2003.
The site is easy to reach on foot and offers plenty of parking on the underground levels for visitors arriving by car. The shops and restaurants in Lentia City are spread across two floors, so allow time to explore all areas.
The tallest tower in the complex reaches 21 floors and stands out noticeably in the Linz skyline. This striking height made it a landmark in the city when it was completed.
