Schloss Neuhaus

Schloss Neuhaus is a hilltop fortress on Mount Küberg in Salzburg, sitting at around 500 meters elevation. Its medieval keep forms the core structure, with neo-Gothic additions made during later renovations.

The first recorded mention dates to 1219 under Konrad von Neuhaus, marking its early establishment. By 1424, Prince Archbishop Eberhard III. commissioned significant expansions of the fortress.

The castle displays a blend of medieval and neo-Gothic elements that visitors notice immediately when walking through it. This layering of styles becomes apparent as you move past different sections of the building.

The castle has been privately owned by the Topic-Mimara family since 1963 and hosts an art gallery and photo exhibitions. Plan for stairs and elevation changes, and check visiting conditions in advance before making the trip.

The castle's medieval keep survived centuries of modifications and remains largely intact today. This original core makes it a rare example of preserved fortress architecture in the region.
