Naturpark Sparbach, Nature reserve in Lower Austria, Austria

Naturpark Sparbach is a fenced nature park in the southern Wienerwald within the municipality of Hinterbrühl, Lower Austria, owned by the Fürst Liechtenstein foundation in Sparbach. Its grounds hold dense game populations of mouflon, fallow deer and wild boar, the centuries-old Fürstenföhre pine on the Dianawiese meadow, and the artificial Lenauteich pond where mandarin ducks settled. A single entrance in the village of Sparbach leads past a visitor centre, a petting zoo, a nature park house and a nature playground.

Field Marshal Prince Johann I Josef von Liechtenstein established the grounds as a hunting preserve, adding romantic artificial ruins and ornamental buildings such as the Köhlerhausruine, Dianaquelle and Dianatempel. The only genuinely historical structure is the medieval Johannstein ruin from the 12th century. The nature park itself opened in 1962, making it Austria's oldest.

The name Sparbach comes from the village at whose single entrance the visitor centre stands. The Diana spring, Diana temple and Köhlerhaus ruin are romantic follies built for Prince Johann I of Liechtenstein's hunting estate; the Köhlerhaus ruin now serves as a lookout. A petting zoo, nature playground and information boards were added when the park opened to the public.

The park is fenced and can only be entered during opening hours, with an admission fee charged. There is a single entrance in the village of Sparbach, where the visitor centre stands. Sturdy footwear is useful on the uneven paths.

The medieval ruin Johannstein, from the 12th century, is the only genuinely historical building in the park; the Köhlerhausruine, Dianaquelle and Dianatempel are Romantic-era follies built for Prince Johann I Josef von Liechtenstein's hunting estate. The Dianaquelle is a spring, the Dianatempel a decorative temple.
