Schloss Drasing, Renaissance castle in Krumpendorf am Wörther See, Austria.
Schloss Drasing is a Renaissance castle located north of Krumpendorf am Wörther See on a forested hill. The three-story building features a squared courtyard with colonnaded galleries, accessible through the north portal, and displays defensive architectural elements at its corners and facades.
The castle was first recorded in 1284 as an outpost of a larger estate. The Feulner family took control in 1492 and held it until the middle of the 17th century.
The chapel inside holds a 17th century painting of Christ on the cross that visitors encounter during their tour. The decorated tile stove in the knight's hall shows the craftsmanship and style that owners used to display their status.
Access to the castle is through the northern portal that leads into the squared courtyard with arcades. Wear sturdy shoes as the approach on the forested hillside and pathways inside the grounds are unpaved.
A stone portal on the ground floor displays an empty coat of arms shield marked with stonemason signatures from the building period. These marks reveal how craftsmen identified their handiwork.
