Palais Starhemberg, Baroque palace in Innere Stadt, Austria.

The Starhemberg Palace features a symmetrical baroque facade with stone sculptures by Josef Klieber and a main staircase made of Kaiserstein from imperial quarries.

Count Conrad Balthasar von Starhemberg commissioned this palace in 1667, which functioned as headquarters during the Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683.

The building stands as an example of early baroque architecture in Vienna, reflecting the influence of Italian architects in the 17th century.

The palace houses the Federal Ministry of Science and Research along with the Federal Ministry of Education and Arts.

The steps of the main staircase are constructed from white Kaiserstein, a particularly durable stone extracted from the imperial quarries.
