Greinburg, Medieval castle in Grein, Austria.

The stone castle stands on a granite hill overlooking the Danube River, featuring multiple ceremonial halls and an arcaded courtyard.

Construction of Greinburg began in 1488 under the Prüschenk brothers with permission from Emperor Friedrich III, making it Austria's oldest residential castle.

The castle houses the Upper Austrian Maritime Museum, displaying models and artifacts that document the navigation history of the Danube River.

Guided tours operate Tuesday through Sunday from May to October, with entry fees of 7 euros for adults and 4 euros for students.

The Sala Terrena contains decorative patterns made entirely from Danube River pebbles, while the Diamond Vault creates geometric light patterns.
