Wasserturm

The Wasserturm in Wiener Neustadt is a cylindrical structure that rises above the cityscape and stores water for the local supply network. The building features a steel reservoir perched atop the column and topped with a mansard-style roof.

The structure was completed in 1910 as part of the Kaiser Franz Joseph water system and served the expanding city's needs. After suffering damage during World War II, it underwent comprehensive restoration between 1950 and 1951.

The tower shapes the cityscape with its round form and decorated pilasters that define its appearance. Its distinctive mansard-style roof makes it a recognizable landmark in the area.

The tower is easily spotted from outside and now serves as a protected monument that contributes to the urban landscape. Visitors can view the architecture from street level, as the structure remains visible from throughout the surrounding area.

The structure was specifically engineered to bear substantial water loads through thick walls and solid foundations that supported its weight. This robust design enabled it to reliably regulate pressure throughout the water supply network.
