Wettersteinspitzen

The Wettersteinspitzen reaches an elevation of 2,298 meters, featuring steep limestone cliffs and numerous climbing routes across its northern and southern faces.

The mountain formation occurred millions of years ago through sedimentations of the Tethys Sea, creating layers containing ancient marine fossils and corals.

German Alpine Club members maintain several mountain huts near Wettersteinspitzen, continuing a tradition of mountaineering that spans multiple generations in Bavaria.

Climbers can access Wettersteinspitzen through established trails starting from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with dedicated parking areas available at the base stations.

The mountain contains multiple technical climbing routes of varying grades, including several long multi-pitch routes that traverse its distinctive limestone walls.
