Schloss Grubegg

Schloss Grubegg stands as a rectangular two-story structure with a wooden hipped roof and six window axes on each side of the building.

The construction of Schloss Grubegg began in 1591 by merchant Andrä Grueber, who owned shares in several hammer mills in the Aussee region.

The family received the noble predicate 'von und zu Gruebegg' in 1606, establishing the castle as the seat of the Gruebegg lordship.

Following extensive renovations after years of vacancy, the château now functions as a holiday residence located 1.5 kilometers south of Bad Mitterndorf center.

The building survived two fires in the 17th century and was reconstructed without its original fortifications, changing its military character to a residential one.
