Palais Larisch von Moennich

Palais Larisch von Moennich is a palace located at Johannesgasse 26 in Vienna's Innere Stadt district, displaying French mannerism architecture throughout. The building features Doric windows on the ground floor and Ionic windows on the upper levels.

The palace was completed in 1868 for landowner Johann Graf Larisch-Moennich, designed by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll. These architects were renowned for their contributions to Vienna's major building projects of that era.

The palace displays various architectural styles distributed across its interior levels. Visitors can observe Tuscan and Corinthian columns along with black and white marble fireplaces representing different artistic traditions.

The building functions today as a diplomatic residence and is clearly visible from the street in the Innere Stadt district. As a private location, visiting is restricted and requires special permission.

The building was involved in Oil-for-Food program operations between 1996 and 2003 while serving as a diplomatic headquarters. This lesser-discussed period marked an important moment in Vienna's modern diplomatic history.
