Palais Larisch von Moennich, Protected castle in Innere Stadt, Austria
The Palais Larisch von Moennich stands on Johannesgasse 26, featuring French mannerism architecture with doric windows on the ground floor and ionic windows above.
Completed in 1868 for landowner Johann Graf Larisch-Moennich, the palace was designed by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll.
The palace interior displays various architectural elements across three levels, including Tuscan and Corinthian columns, alongside black and white marble fireplaces.
The building currently serves as the Iraqi Embassy following a comprehensive renovation between 2011 and 2013, maintaining its diplomatic function in Vienna.
Between 1996 and 2003, the palace became involved in the Oil-for-Food program operations while functioning as the Iraqi diplomatic headquarters.
