Helmut-Zilk-Park, Public park in Favoriten district, Vienna, Austria.
Helmut-Zilk-Park is a 70,000 square meter green space in the Favoriten district with around 520 young trees, multiple playgrounds, and large meadow areas. Located next to Vienna's Main Train Station, it combines recreation areas with contemporary landscape design.
The park opened in two phases during 2016 and 2017, created on the site of former railroad tracks. This transformation brought a modern recreational space to an area that was previously dominated by transportation infrastructure.
The park is named after Helmut Zilk, a journalist and former mayor, and features community gardens and gathering spaces where neighbors meet. You can see locals using these areas to connect and spend time together.
The park offers free WiFi, drinking fountains, seating areas, and a cafe with restrooms, making it comfortable to spend time there. Designated dog areas allow visitors with pets to bring them along safely.
A 1,400 square meter motor skills area with physical challenges and exercise equipment tests visitors of all fitness levels. This zone allows people to actively work on their coordination and strength while enjoying the park.
