Weinidylle nature park, Nature park in Burgenland, Austria
Weinidylle nature park is a protected area along the Austrian-Hungarian border that combines forests, wetlands, and vineyards across a large landscape. Eight municipalities are connected through marked hiking trails throughout the region.
The protected area developed from a smaller park established in 1978, later expanding into the current nature park. Fish ponds below Güssing Castle were created between 1905 and 1916 as part of regional development.
The name refers to the wine culture that shapes the area, with small vineyards scattered across hills and valleys. Visitors encounter working wineries and see grapevines in every season.
Wear sturdy footwear since trails cross varied terrain and can be muddy after rain. The best time to visit is spring through autumn when conditions are most stable.
The fish ponds below Güssing Castle host numerous dragonfly species that visitors can spot while walking the area. These wetlands hold international recognition for their ecological value.
